Hello all - men and women alike!
I live smack dab in the middle of some of the most beautiful Ozark Mountains you could ever imagine. Rolling hills, hidden waterfalls, steep cliffs, and rushing rivers. Just about anything an adventurer could want or desire . . . if they know how to find them. That's where I come in.
I am in no way a professional photographer or explorer, but I can proudly say that the Ozarks have been my natural playground going on 12 years now. Through these years I have spent time in exploration and discovery, finding places that many people don't even know exist. As I was searching the web trying to find some new areas to explore, I realized how little information there was available on the really good places to visit (AKA: The off trail, no signs, untouched, breathtaking beauty that's rarely found in a state park).
After even more digging I discovered that not only was there a short supply of hiking tips and information for the Ozarks, but there was even less information for women who wanted to get out and explore! Let's face it, this is generally a male driven hobby in the public's eyes. I, however, believe differently. There are many women who would get out and hike/backpack, either on their own or with a group of friends (or significant other), if they only knew the really good places to go. Or how to find gear that actually fit them. Or just the basic skills necessary to survive a day or two in the woods. Again, this is where I would like to come in and help. Through a lot of trial and error I have stuffed a few tricks up my sleeve that I hope will give the fairer sex a step up in this timeless hobby/lifestyle.
I hope I am able to help and encourage you to get out and explore this vast expanse of wilderness God has put in our backyard. Please feel free to comment and leave tips as often as you would like - I am here to learn as well. Enjoy!
